Job Summary

This role assists credentialed providers with diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures in cardiac and vascular laboratory environments. The Cardiac Interventional Radiographer promotes teamwork and upholds the organization's mission and philosophy while working under the direct supervision of a credentialed provider.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor radiation safety and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Perform quality assurance checks on X-ray equipment and protective gear, troubleshoot issues, and initiate service calls.
• Assist the hospital radiation safety officer with surveys and compliance documentation for Cardiac and Vascular Laboratories (CVLs).
• Serve as scrub, monitor/recorder, and X-ray technician for assigned CVL procedures.
• Prepare and position patients for invasive procedures, assist with cardiovascular tests, and record hemodynamic activity.
• Achieve hemostasis at arterial and venous access sites after procedures, including sheath removal and management of hemostatic devices.
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot procedural equipment.
• Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms, and alert providers and team members according to protocol.
• Administer intracoronary and/or intra-arterial medications under direct physician supervision.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields using aseptic technique, and support the physician in the sterile field as a scrub.
• Prepare, maintain, and operate hemodynamic and monitoring equipment.
• Provide basic and advanced life support, including defibrillation, when required.
• Maintain proficiency in point-of-care testing using laboratory equipment (e.g., ACT, oxygen saturation, glucose, and ABG).
• Educate patients about procedures.
• Respond to on-call requests within 30 minutes for after-hours callbacks.
• Restock supplies, maintain a clean work area, and assist with patient transportation.

Qualifications

• Skills: Radiation safety monitoring, X-ray equipment quality assurance, troubleshooting, sterile and aseptic technique, hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac arrhythmia recognition, basic and advanced life support, point-of-care testing, patient education, IVUS, Site Rite, atherectomy devices, pacemakers/ICDs, coronary angiograms and interventions, and PACS image retrieval.
• Education: Successful completion of an accredited radiologic technology program (ARRT).
